during our short trip to bologna we had dinner here twice. prices are reasonable for the city, you are being charged EUR 3,00 pp for cover, which is ok if you stay for dinner. the restaurant "il portico" on the other side of the via dell'independeza has the identic menu so you have to be aware that this restaurant is more a tourist trap than the mother-of-all individual cuisines of bologna, but this isn't necessarily a reason for any presumptions in my eyes, since i also fancy some similar addresses in vienna. looking around mostly tourists and ppl on business trips come for dinner here, menu is italian and english, ordering in english is straightforward here.
our first visit was splendid, we had bruscetti, pizza, draft beer and a glass of local open red vine finally (good choice, recommended by the friendly waiter). quick and competent service - great atmosphere
next evening my paccheri pasta with tonno and scampi took them around 20-25 mins longer than the pizza (decent quality) for my girlfriend, so she had already finished at the time my main dish was being served. delivery at the (about) same time should be considered a good habit in any better restaurant in my eyes.
the paccheri were not al dente or crispy but hard an chewy from my pov, the tuna was overly done, while the scampi tasted ok but more on the crude side. I've eaten (fresh) seafood a hundred times in various manners, but this was overall among the most disappointing experiences ever. the restaurant manager explained that this was a typical, local dish, which can taste rather harsh, but agreed without asking i should not have to pay for this either, still we left with mixed feelings and had a...
Read moreFantastic place, which is hidden down the side road, so find this gem and compare your meals as this was the beat we've had in our 4 days of eating out here in Bologna. The staff were fantastic and attentive, making recommendations and generally more helpful than the other places we ate at. The mixed grill which was 'Grigliata mista del "Moro" all brace' was a combination of filet steak, chicken and pork filets as well as grilled Courgette and other vegetables on a plate with lovely seasoned potatoes. It had to be shared between 2 people, so luckily one of the group had to appetite for this sharing platter as it was huge. We also asked for a mixed salad, but asked for onions which they gladly chopped into our salads. The other 4 in our group had a mixture of meals, which we all agreed were the best we've had all week. Great house red wine at €28 a bottle, and the girls had a white fizzy wine which was like Prosecco, but even better Italian version of.
I thoroughly recommend this lovely quant restaurant, as the food and staff were amazing. Nice final meal in our 4 day long weekend in Bologna. Italians were magnificent hosts, so we will definitely come again. Bologna is a great place to visit. Also please book a guided walking tour on your first day here, as you'll really find your bearings before you start exploring this...
Read moreI recently visited this restaurant and unfortunately the dining experience left a lot to be desired. The seafood I ordered tasted like frozen seafood, the quality was very poor. As for the vegetables, they were undercooked, being half frozen, they arrived at the table very oily.
The seafood pasta was probably the worst I have ever had. The dish had nothing to do with what it should have been and the taste was disappointing.
My friend ordered carbonara pasta which was also mid. The speck wasn’t cooked and cut into very big pieces, and the pasta tasted like boxed carbonara.
At service and until the end of the dinner, we were served by one of the girls from the team.:) Who was very attentive and nice. Unfortunately, we were served by another boy from the team at the end. They came with the bill after 10 minutes, even though the waiters were free. After we told them the feedback, they argued with us that there is no way the pasta could not be good because other customers said seafood pasta is tasty.
Luckily we went to the restaurant next door which had a very...
